I must be blind. I couldn't find the EDK in those pictures. What's the caption?

Why would anyone use a euro-death-knot fishing?

And it looks like they tied the tautline incorrectly. Anyone?

I use one all the time. It gets stuck on rocks less and has a lower profile. Just make sure you tie the ends long enough so they don't slip out. Crazy

I normally wrap it a couple more times, but other than that it looked right to me. Perfectly safe for fishing. Laugh

Indeed, but it may not be safe for anything else since the last half-hitch goes the wrong way around the standing part.

Allow Grog to show the correct method:

http://www.animatedknots.com/...ww.animatedknots.com

As with a double half-hitch, you can always tell if it's properly tied by looking at the knot that the working end makes around the standing end. If it makes a clove hitch (or in this case a rolling hitch), the knot is correct. If it makes a lark's head, the final half-hitch is tied backwards.

it's fast, doesn't use much line, and it works. i've used it fly fishing to attach tippet material to a leader.

when it REALLY matters, though, a nail knot, fishermans knot, or one of the weird clinch knots gets used.

the hardest thing is to tie monofilament to spectra type lines.
