TCU Funny, this debate normally pops up about TCUs vs Aliens.

Gear express has them for $174 seems that gear express is cheaper than any other site on most everything. I love gear express. Northenmountain.com has them for $157 if you are a member... and being a member is just signing up, you don't pay anything for membership.

TCUs and Long Stem Zeros! Why aren't the Zeros getting any love or consideration? I love my UL TCUs and My Long Stem Zeros.

Yeah, Zeros are pretty good cams. I just don't like triggers on the old style. Other than that, the Blue Zero may be one of my favorite cams. I still like Aliens more though. And if I were in the market (which I'm not), I'd go for the Ultra Light TCUs. hosh.

If you're getting your first set of micro cams, I would try to find the old style TCUs (or power cams). You can get them for about $30 a pop if you look around. They definitley get the job done and are bomber as hell. After that, if you climb a while and experience placements where you'd rather have a lot of flexibility, get some aliens or C3's. Maybe by then the C3s will actually be affordable.

If I had to choose between the two, I'd take the C3's. I've got big hands and have a hard time with the TCU triggers. The narrow head is also a plus. But both designs suck as far as flexibility goes. And flexibility is what counts with small cams. Fortunately, I do not have to choose either of these, because God made Aliens.

I know BD hypes the flexibility of the C3s, but they are really fairly stiff. Sure, you can bend the hell out of them, but you will almost certainly compromise your placement if you do.

has anyone had any experiences with the TCUs or C3s at very cold temps? on a recent trip to the Ruth Gorge my aliens all froze up on me. I would thaw them by breathing on them and I could cam them, but, then they would refreeze and not uncam and just fall out of the placements. the lobes on the cams touch each other and that is where they are freezing together. from what i remember from TCUs and C3s its the same deal (i.e. lobes in contact with each other) and was wondering if others have had the same problem.
