Stolen: Misc gear in Eldo

Last night (5/15) around 8:00pm, my partner and I had our gear stolen from the base of Rain (lookers right of the Bastille, a few steps above the road). List of gear stolen includes:

* Blue nylon custom-made climbing pack (barebones style, missing hood)

* Car keys (sorry for the repeated car alarms in Eldo last night!)

* Ultra-light orange nylon rain shell

* Sentimental South Boulder guidebook

* New orange alien, slightly used red alien

* #1 and #2 C4s, fairly new

* ~5 yellow shoulder length slings, each racked with a neutrino and hotwire

* Older BD Quickwire w/ black and brown striped dogbone

* BD pear locker, handful of misc. hotwires and neutrinos, trango wiregate

* Set of RPs and larger BD nuts (probably #8-#12) racked on a BD oval

Some of the hotwires are marked on the spine with a narrow strip of very worn black and green duct tape. Most of the hotwires are basic silver, most of the neutrinos are anodized green.

Canyon was pretty empty last night, so the most likely culprits are a group of high schoolers who were trolling around the canyon. When I started seconding I saw them walking down the streamside trail by The Monument. Must have taken our stuff when I was 3/4 of the way up the route. I remembered later feeling my tag line get caught on something; either they were stepping on the tag or were trying to pull me off.

If people could keep any eye out for this gear, I'd appreciate it. I highly doubt these perps are climbers, so who knows what they'll do with this stuff.

WARNING - this isn't random, it happened again tonight, 5/16. My boyfriend is currently giving the victim a ride home to get his other car keys.

LAME!

Did you alert the park rangers? They need to watch out for that stuff. Let's get a vigilante squad together if nothing gets done. We already have ropes, might as well tie some nooses. Pirate

The guy is going to call the rangers tomorrow, it was after hours. (I wasn't there, btw)

My partner left a message for the rangers yesterday, but didn't receive a call back.

Sounds like these thefts are happening in the evening, after the rangers take off for the day. On a rare occasion I've seen rangers out till maybe 6:30ish.
