Does anybody else out there get into a bad mood on days they KNOW they aren't going to get to climb? Do you get pissed off when the people you are planning on climbing with bail on you?? Are you in a much happier mood on days you DO climb?!!

If the weather's crap, I find something else to do. Or go climb severely overhung stuff.

I don't understand why nobody loves the rock as much as i do... around here anyway... i've been here 2 months and i've dropped around 500 bucks on gear already... all i need is a dedicated partner. I have one and he's great so far...he knows a lot and has taught me a lot as well!! but i need another for the times he's busy HAHAHAHA

Im right there with you man. If I go to long without climbing I get really pissy. My girlfriend calls it my version of PMS. And if people bail on me, I get really upset and just go boulder. But imagine my dismay when I found out that my school was closing the wall for the spring term. Im going insane not being able to do a burnout everyday!!!

The world needs more places like the New River Gorge. That way, if it rains, you go paddling. If it's sunny, you climb. to be more specific, yes it sucks whenever anything gets in the way of valuable play time!

rc_vinay wrote: richardvg03 wrote: Do you get pissed off when the people you are planning on climbing with bail on you?? go ahade do a solo... Hear hear. Develop a solid TR self belay technique and keep the device in the bottom of your pack (or in the trunk of your car). Another key to avoiding withdrawal - a home woodie. If I don't get out to the cliff, I can always do an arm blasting workout in the garage. Then I'm glad to take a day or two off to recover. Comment to the OP - it's called "a dependency". Admit it, you're addicted to this sport.

Don't get me started on how much flakes and bailers piss me off. I honestly don't get it. The women are worse than the men for some reason. I've totally given up on finding reliable female partners. (end mini rant). Drop me a message if you want to climb up in LA county some time.

If my partners bails on me I go bouldering or TR solo. It gives me a break from the social crap anyways....or I just hike and hike...

Yeah, some days I'll realize that I totally burned myself out the night before and I'll be sad that I can't climb again that day. I would get mad if my partner flaked on me, but I've made it very clear that she's not allowed to do that. I'm mellow about almost anything, but I've made it clear that if she calls to cancel she better be calling from the hospital or prison. She would probably feel the same about me.

The Outdoor Rec instructor keeps the key to our rockwall. I think he's away right now (not responding to my emails). So, I can't get the key and do any climbing at my college's wall. It's the most frustrating thing in the world. I was setting up a route last time and I've been thinking about it for the past week and a half. I need to go work on it some more. The worst is when I get all psyched about going out and climbing and it gets canceled. Very frustrating. Another thing, I really want to be climbing way more than I am. The problem: my mentor/instructor is a pretty busy guy. He's supposed to take me and a few other students to the Gunks and start teaching us to clean, lead, place pro, etc. this summer. I can only pray he does. On days I climb, nothing can get me down :) It makes everything better. And I know exactly what you mean about blowing through crazy money on gear ;) I've been doing the same thing.

I've found a couple of great partners that I get along with, but they're both at or below my level, and it's been really hard to meet people that will help me excel that I can climb with. Ah well. I'd get out with you, if you weren't 2 hours away :).

I get pretty upset when the one person that I have to climb with bails on me. I like to boulder but hate doing it everyday because it just gets boring to me after awhile.

that's one thing that pisses me off. that is why I don't look for partners anymore. I know who's at the crags, I call around I know who is working on what, and I just go up there myself. Play the music I like at the volume I please, I don't have no one getting tense in the passenger seat when I pass a car, I stop where I want and I go when I want. If all goes bad I grab my crashpad, rolling papers and head to the boulders. Generally by thursday I know what's going on the next weekend. Feels a tad lonely sometimes but you get used to it.

What really pisses me off is when you have a climbing trip all planned out, you have a place to stay and then that person your staying with says you can't stay there after you have it all planned out with them. Well that happened to me yesterday. Today I worked some things out and Im still going climbing this weekend. All Trad. OH YA. So now Im in a really happy mood.

Seems like a question i had when i started climbing -- AKA a noob thing - thats were bouldering comes in. Figure it out you dont have to have a rope to climb. If no chance to rope up then boulder. (btw you dont have to still be in puberty and wear a retarded looking hat to do it- its called training)
