Are there any indoor climbing walls in Michigan specifically near Grand Rapids

There are 3. One is south on 131, about 20 min away from downtown. One is somewhere downtown (never been there). Both are listed online.

And a third one, so small it's not really worth mentioning... at the downtown YMCA complex (the huge 100,000+ sq.ft) which will cost you an arm and a leg to climb at. But you can swim there too!

get on some rocks, go to grand ledge and grab some free holds. earlier today i found this sick roof i havent seen before, (not in oak park)..cant wait to get the fa...been finding a lot of quality rock outside of that park lately. hopefully we can get access to climbing across the river because i notice some really good potential in two areas in particular.

Okay Michael...I think the OP's question was not "Where can I drive two hours and have a partner and gear and hope it isn't raining to go climb a 60ft crag. The kid is looking for a gym in GR. So if you have useful info...post it, if not, move on to the next post. If you are angry about not having rock, don't go to MSU.

OP, as far as I know the best gym is just north of downtown. I didn't climb when I lived in GR but from what I hear, that is your best bet.

been there for comps; a nice place.

There's Inside Moves in Byron Center which is also a nice place.

there's also a gym at Grand Valley State Univ. (GVSU) in Allendale

if you're looking for something different one day and willing to drive a little bit, Climb Kalamazoo is pretty good, too.

though, Grand Ledge is, seemingly, about the same distance.

There are 3, I have been to 1 and seen another. Higher grounds is alright, definitely nothing special, real short, not much wall. But clean and a decent place for beginners, bouldering is not all that great. The other gym Inside moves is definitely the worst gym I have ever been to in my life. It is tiny, dirty, bathroom sucks, only scalding hot water in sink, random junk and debris everywhere. The walls are really short, the bouldering is wretched beyond belief, the setting is atrocious at best, 90% of the holds are ancient, and it just sucks. Some nice people there, owner seemed nice enough, but an absolute joke. You couldn't pay me to climb there, and I've climbed at some dumps before. Planet Rock in Eastern Michigan is the only place worth your time.
