All the guide books will tell you that you need two ropes to rappel at DWG. This is entirely true. So if you have two ropes, bring them both. Trail the 2nd rope (or climb on both for a change) and you'll be happy.

However, if you don't have two ropes, you have a viable option: Fourth Class Ramp, slightly West of the popular Triumvirate wall. The bottom 50 feet or so is literally a 4th class ramp, and the remaining 100 feet is a nice 5.0 right-facing corner. With a single 60-meter rope, you can rap down to the 4th class junk, and scramble the rest of the way down.

Note that a 60-meter rope will NOT reach flat ground, so tie your stopper knot(s) as close to the ends as you can get, rap right down to the end, and step carefully off rappel onto the 4th class ledges.

At the time of this writing, the rap station at the top of Fourth Class Ramp was most recently rebuilt on July 8, 2007.
