how easy is it to find shade at tensleep? i'd like to go to the wild iris, but global warming isn't treating the mostly south-facing walls of lander very well. also, i need a good selection of 10s for my wife. are there enough or are there just a few as trade warm-ups?

The best areas at the Mondo and Cattle Ranch start going into the shade at about 1pm-ish. The lower part of the canyon will likely be too hot even in the afternoon shade. There are only a few areas that are shady in the morning... Home Alone and Circus Wall come to mind. Plenty of very good 10s, although the ratings on many of them seemed a little stiff to my wife.

Can you recommend a wall that has .10's-.12's? I know nothing of the area other than everyone says it rocks.

I've only been a couple of times and have always focussed on the 5.12 and up routes. Because of this, I can't make any valid suggestions on the easier routes. From what I remember, most of the better walls have at least a few 5.11's in and around the harder lines. My guidebook is on loan right now, otherwise I'd take a quick look for you. In fact, since you have so much time until your visit, I would suggest getting a hold of the guide prior to your visit. Not sure where you can purchase it online, but if nothing else you could call the Wild Iris climbing store in Lander and have them send you a copy. Enjoy your visit (I'm sure you will).
