Indoor climbing on top rope...sounds about right.

honetsly, grades don't mean anything. Some places you can climb 5.10's and other places you can climb 5.11's. Just go out there and climb.

As for your question, it is pretty good.

You are doing well, relax.

I'd say that a 5.10 sport lead outside within the first year of climbing is pretty average for guys.
Especially guys who are young(er) and have friends who climb harder than they do.

Don't punish yourself over indoor grades, they vary from gym to gym, plus they don't resemble anything outdoors. Keep working on it.

My friends got me into climbing a little less than 2 months ago. The problem is that they had all been climbing for years. I just started working on a 5.10d after completing a 5.10b last week, unfortunatly alot of my friends are off working on 5.12's. I was wondering if 5.10d is alright for 2 months or if im just not pushing myself hard enough.

don't worry about the grade, just climb and have fun while pushing YOURSELF to teh max. don't worry what your buddy's are climbing. climbing with people who are better than you makes you see lines differently, and pushes you.

Don't listen to these people trying to keep you from excelling. Yeah, yeah, "have fun", "don't push it or you'll get injured"---pansy advice. If grades weren't important, why don't they rate climbs in terms of feel-goodness instead of difficulty? Answer me that. Grades are everything. Unfortunately, at your stage, Sharma was already pulling 12's, and, well, you're not, are you? Have you tried badminton? That can be really good exercise.

(A bit more seriously, think in terms not of next month but of a year or two down the road; spend more time getting smoooooth at the doable stuff than flailing on the hard ones. Get "Self-Coached Climber" if you want a systematic approach to improvement.)

Do what you want, what feels best, or what someone who you feel climbs for the same reason you want to, does. fuck shoulds.

indoor grades are yardsticks in YOUR gym, at best, don't extrapolate any further.

You are getting a lot of advice from seasoned pros... who, to a man, started climbing this century, I bet.

Grades won't mean shit until you start leading trad, but by then you'll realize that they REALLY don't mean shit.
