Black Diamond Half Dome, $59.93 at REI.com or their shops. I hate helmets, but have worn them when the situation demands. This one is comfortable, light, and works. I am on my second after the French Alps decided that my head would make a good target. I had a head ache for a couple of days, without the lid I would have be without pain and totally dead. Experience is a great salesman!

I have an Elios and An Ecrin Roc I like both, I use the ecrin more, but they are both good helmets. I don't know anything about the salamander though...

go with the comfy one! as they all make you look like a dick so you may as well be a comfy dick! from the pics in the mags the Salamander does make you look HARD so that may be the better choice as then you would look like a hard dick....lol

Try them one. Choose the one that's most comfrotable. Why buy a helmet if you don't end up wearing it beacuse its not comfortable? Its quite simple, really.

The Grivel offers a little more protection for the back of your head. The petzl is a little lighter. I prefer the Grivel, it fits me very well. As others said, fit is important. The BD helmet isn't comfortable for me, the Petzl is just ok.
