So, for those 3 hour long gym annihalation sessions, or to psych up for that big send, to get you pumped up on the way to the cliff, what does everybody out there listen to? I'm running low on music right now, and the right tunes help make training sessions go that much easier. Particularly, does anyone know of any good techno (is that what it's called? I'm no music buff) - stuff which is more beat and thump than space age, hippified, electronic strangeness. A lot of the chemical brothers are good, but not all, any other suggestions? Thanks in advance, Will

I'm sure people will tell you to search. This is what I'm listening to at the gym: Rock: Rammstein (german metal) Flogging Molly (Irish Punkish-ness) Amazing Royal Crowns (AKA Amazing Crowns - rockabilly) Motorhead The Fratellis Beats: RJD2 DJ-Kicks Thievery Corporation (dont know if this is an artist or what but it's good) DJ Shadow Also check out "Girl Talk" - not the jazz band. IF you can get it, it's awesome. It's some DJ mixing top 50 in an amazingly ridiculous way. Here's the link to Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Night-Ripper-Girl-Talk/dp/B000F9RLXA

If you like the tunes on videos look into the credits... eKoman is on a lot of the petzl ones j-

I thought there was a thread recently where we decided that 90% of all good music came from these: John Butler Trio Bela Fleck & The Flecktones Xavier Rudd Umphrey's McGee Ben Harper and the IC Nickel Creek Keller Williams Tool There are others........

i second Girl Talk. and if you're looking for electronic stuff, you can't go wrong with Daft Punk. Justice, and Infected Mushroom are also good. As for rock, metal, etc. Id go with Tool, Andrew W.K. (hes the guy that does the Party Hard song), Dream Theater, A Perfect Circle. But if you really want to get in the zone and pwn that project youre working on: Echoes by Pink Floyd

any mix by orbital or dj sasha should have some good techno/house to pump you up. a particular song that i like to blast is called "air for life" and it's originally by above and beyond, but the andy moor remix is pretty intense. if you're into metal or hardcore try killswitch engage, i'd recommend their album "alive or just breathing." having said that i never listen to music to pump me up for climbing, but these songs get me pretty hyped up for other things.

Hands down the best down tempo/techno is as follows: For jsut pure awesomeness, go RATATAT. They have a million good songs, just limewire it. Benny Benassi is the bass king, his beats will make your head explode. Some good slower beats are Tycho, Thievory Corporation. Also, go to www.bigupproductions.com, they allow a bunch of free mp3 downloads from their varios films. Some are shit, but most are pretty awesome to climb to, which is why they are probably on these videos. PM for anything else, the list is endless. Or maybe shoot me some of your favorite beat tunes, we are running RATATAT into the ground. Check their myspace if you want to hear them first.

I remember a thread like this from '03. My response then was:
In reply to: For me, Tool's music is chocked full o' sendin' powa!" (Sigh) I can't believe how young and silly I was then......or that I still agree with that statement. TOOL4LYFE!!!!!11222 d.

No lie, I had this same experience, after my first couple climbing sessions i went on a youtube spree and this is linked forever with badass climbing and pumping up in my mind for the same reason. I listen to: Flogging Molly or Classic Rock or Random Punk before and Bob Marley or something similar after workout. The beating of my heart in the middle.
