A friend came back from a road trip to hawk's nest this weekend and indicated that the boulder with the Mangler (v6), Beginner's Luck(v4) and various other problems has fallen. If what he says is true these and other problems on this boulder are now lost.

based on third-party descriptions the mangler's a v0- lay down start. The boulder in question is flat on the deck.

Hmmm... this has the (somewhat less stunning) ring of the Totem Pole hoax. I'll be home from vacation tomorrow, and I'll trot out there Wednesday to see for myself. It would be shame, since there are a few very good problems on it, but hey, maybe I can score an FA or two when I'm out there. Laugh

For those curious here's a list of routes from the guidebook that my friend believes are no longer viable:

Beginner's Luck V4,

Lady Luck V2 is a stand up start of the same problem, Beginner's Luck starts on the roof, first move is a slapper to the face, then you work the feature up

Tough Love V3 - stand up start to the left of Beginner's Luck, slabby problem

The Mangler V6 - high start (jump for some) to the upside down V, then up

The Mangler Traverse - starts to the left of Mangler, goes out arete to prow and up - this one is/was rarely sent, as the holds are small crimps, and its over water most of the time.

RIP

Perhaps I'll head down and knock off my first V6 and then send a few new first ascents on the previous horizontal surface of the boulder Cool.
