Hey all, I'm thinking about driving down to the gunks next weekend--has anyone been out lately and can tell me how wet the rock has been (rather, how much snow is left that will continue to keep it wet...). I'm hoping the conditions shape up so it is not too cold or too wet. Any feedback would be appreciated :) Cheers, NICK

Nick, the Gunks are not seeping cliffs like many others. Water does not drain off the top and over the cliff. Rather, any snow that collects on the ledges quickyl melts off with a day or two of sun, and the cliff dries out fairly fast. It's not like Cannon, or cliffs in the Adirondacks, that seep for days after wet weather. So to answer your question, right now the cliffs are perfect to climb on. It's going to rain for a few days, but give it a few hours after the rain stops, and then come up. You will dry routes to do. RR
