So I have a week to blow for spring break and am looking for good sport routes anywhere on the west coast in the easy to moderate range. Was going to go to Smith, but looks like it'll be storming. Any suggestions?

Unless its windy you can still climb. Every time I've been to smith and the weather called for rain, it was just cloudy. Besides, you won't see as many tools there with their dogs and their puffy coats and their...... dogs......dogs named brah.....and brahs in puffy coats......grr.

When I went to smith rock this time of year about...two years ago?...it was snowing. Apparently that's not very common, but...the forecast is definitely not going to be set in stone over there. cheers

I have fond memories of climbing at smith when it was butt-cold. Of course, I'm the sort of guy who hates climbing with crowds around. If it is snowing, the backside will be sunny later in the day, while the red point will be sunny early in the morning. Then you have the dihedrals, christian brothers to work through while you walk towards the backside in the mid-day.

Yeah I should add...we had lots of sun, a little rain, and a lot of snow....you just never know in the high desert. But yes, there are walls that are almost always protected from the weather even if it gets bad...we were able to climb in the rain no problem.
