latest Indiana Jones Movie SUCKS!

If I ever see George Lucas on the street I'm going to slap him and demand my money back for having to suffer through seeing that pile of shit he called a movie. If you're thinking of seeing the latest Indiana Jones Movie, don't. That was without a doubt the worst movie I've ever seen. Apparently George is getting his inspiration for his movies by hanging out stoned teenagers. My theory is this movie started when a 14 year old boy who, while looking for his parents stash of weed, first found his parents stash of Alien Abduction Time Life Books and later the weed. Soon after that the kid pitched his idea to Lucas. This is, as best as I can imagine, the only logical explanation for this “don't even rent it” movie.
For me the film went from bad to retarded around the time the lead actor started his CGI generated tarzanesk performance followed by his gang of rhesus monkeys.

Same thing - different title apparently (according to some reviews).

Too bad, I was hoping this would be good. :(

Did they have to use CGI to make it look like Han Solo isn't like 80 now?

What'd you expect? Another masterpiece on the order of THE PHANTOM MENACE??

Lucas hasn't made a movie worth watching since...well, he never has actually.

I havnt watched it yet but Lucas didnt write the screen play or direct.

I didnt know producers got the blame for a film being a POS?

i think it wasnt that bad. it was a lot better than all the copycat movies imho. first half was better than the second. It had some nice vintage-indy moments, but overall lacked the tempo and flow of the first three.

BTW, wtf is with spielberg and aliens, do you really have to put a spaceship into every movie !!!!1111

I thought it was decent. Not on the same level as Raiders, but still good. The whole alien thing was a bit far fetched, especially if you know anything about the read crystal skulls. And the tarzan scene was indeed dumb, however I think Lebeouf did well overall. As a whole it was enjoyable. There were some real classic indy moments in there to!

As a whole for the series, I put it above Temple of Doom, just below (maybe tied) with Last Crusade, and below Raiders.

Any sequel that targets boomer reminisce destined for self-parody at best. What did you expect??????

Perhaps the only thing more horrible would be to suffer through a Led Zeppelin reunion show.

Blade Runner - 1982

Witness - 1985

Frantic - 1988

Patriot Games - 1992

The Fugitive - 1993

One could also make arguments for Star Wars and the Indiana Jones movies.

Admittedly things went down hill after the mid nineties but he has done some good stuff. Most notably Blade Runner Witness and The Fugitive.

I actually enjoyed it. Not necessarily as a movie persai, but rather as an Indiana Jones. The truth is, Indiana Jones movies have always been campy and somewhat cheesy, and that's part of the magic that is Indy. This certainly wasn't a great movie by any stretch of the imagination. But it was an enjoyable movie that fit with the rest of the series. It wasn't like the Phantom menace where they completely left what actually made star wars a great series.

my objective rating is: 2/5 stars.
my non-objective rating is: 3.5/5 stars.

I haven't seen it, but the more I hear about it the less I'm expecting. I was really hoping it would be good.

NotApp is right, btw. Lucas can't be (completely) blamed for this one.

American Graffiti... Force 10 from Navarone.... Apocalypse Now.... The Mosquito Coast....

Indeed, considering nobody else from Star Wars went on to be much of anything. Carrie Fisher got fat and bloated, Mark Hamil moved on to such astounding roles as the voice for TV cartoons like "Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!" (why he didn't get an Oscar for such ground breaking work is beyond me), and so forth and so on.

Of the original Star Wars cast, only Harrison Ford and Sir Alec Guinness ever had much of a noteworthy career, and Sir Guinness was already established long before.

Oh, and Billy Dee Williams. Mustn't forget those Colt 45 Malt Liquor commercials.

Good point about American Graffiti, sorta forgot he was in that.

Never saw Force 10, I assume its worth a watch?

The Mosquito Coast, although an interesting story idea didnt really do it for me as a whole. It has been 10+ years since I watched it so it might leave a different impression now that I'm older.

I didnt include Apocalypse because his part was so small, couldnt really say he was an asset to the film with two lines of dialogue.

He will not and should not go down as one of the great actors in the history of american cinema but he can hold his own and has been an asset to more than one production. A solid leading man I would say.

He did have the 'terminate with extreme prejudice' line though.

Blade Runner is my fave Ford movie, by far. The combo of 40's style detective film noir with science fiction... that movie speaks to me in a way few others ever did.

Great buildering scene too.

Franchise movie series always disappoint - the exception proving the rule is Lord of the Rings and I bet decent money they fuck the Hobbit up before its all through.

Because Franchise movies are like:

"We're just knocked out
We heard about the sellout
You gotta get an album out
You owe it to the people
We're so happy we can hardly count

And did we tell you the name of the game
Boy
We call it riding the gravy train.

Ditto that man.

If I put together a favorites list, Blade Runner and Apocalypse would be in the top 30 for sure. My dad got me Ridley's Final Cut for christmas and that thing has all kinds of special features. I know its nerdy but I really like a good directors commentary.

I think that the trilogy was masterfully made and am a little disappointed that Jackson wont be directing but if there is anyone out there who can do the film and book series justice it is Guillermo del Toro. That man is at the top of his game right now. I'm kinda looking forward to actually.

Huh. I thought the new Indy flick fucking rocked. Okay the Tarzan-monkey-bit was stupid and bringing back Marion was a mistake (she sucked), but the rest was a blast! I put it under Raiders of the Lost Ark (which has a cameo, BTW), but way above the other sequels, both of which ate deep-fried donkey balls, IMO.

Of course, when it comes to this genre, I'm kind of an easy room. Pay tens of millions of dollars to make a movie and I'll probably pay ten dollars to go see it.
