Any Climbers in Townsville?

Hey everyone.

I was curious if there are any climbers from the forum who live in Townsville, QLD, Australia? I am looking into getting into rock climbing ( I have pretty much zero experience) and was wondering if there is much of a scene for it here? I am an international student so I don't know too much about the area (although Mt. Stuart looks like it'd be fun).

Cheers
Stephen

Get ahold of philbox. He's out that way and would be able to direct you to the scene.

Also, moved this to the International Partner's forum.

I heard there are a lot of climbers on the mean streets of Town . . . sville.

Try posting in the International forum. You'll likely have more luck there.

Hey There,

There are a lot of climbers in Townsville, you could always go to Adventure Equipment up there, they would be able to guide you to the people. You could always try the Army guys, there are heaps up there they can only climb weekends but a lot are army trained which is a very good standard.
If you fail there you could always register on www.thecrag.com and post a message there. Townsville has excellent climbing from single pitch sport to multipitch trad. As a last resort I can put you in contact with someone I trust up there and you could approach him. Whatever you do don't climb on castle Hill it is a CHOSS PILE.
