Yuji Hirayama leading up the headwall on a June 2008 attempt at the speed climbing record of The Nose of El Capitan with Hans Florine. The were both running it way out. If you look closely you can see where Yuji's last piece of protection was. Hans was simulclimbing this pitch.
Photographically, what do you all think?

It has definite potential, but something is just not sitting right with me.
First and foremost, the flatness bothers me a bit. I was pretty rough with it, but this is closer to what would appeal to me personally (ignore the cropping, I was just playing around):

I thought of something else that with a little care would probably work really well here. Dan Margulis' Man From Mars method in Lab colour would probably bring out some cool colour detail.

Yeah I'd agree, the photo seems to lack a bit of contrast and pop which leads to a certain flatness to it. I like the perspective and the fact that you can see all the way down the face, I get a real sense of just how high up they are.

Oops, I had one and then I got distracted to put it in. It's hard to find a good (free) resource on this.
I'll clear it up when I get home later; it's pretty cool (I think).

Very flat image(easily fixed in post), but the biggest distraction to me is the lack of proper alignment. The image needs to be rotated 45 degrees clockwise for the climber to visibly "make sense" but then the ground looks weird. The camera needed a twist or a tilt.. got any of those?

great angle, and obviously, great subject matter. The edited picture does have more depth, but i would say be careful not to over do it.
