I am tentatively planning on making a trip south in early January and am trying to decide on where winter cragging would be better, at the Red or at the Obed. I was in the Obed a few years ago in January, but it was unseasonably warm. Is there much south facing rock that will pick up that precious winter sun? Any advice? Thanks.

Overall, the Obed has better better winter options than the Red. South Clear Creek and Tieranny both have plenty of south facing routes. If you get sunny days, you may be climbing shirtless in January!

I was out at the Obed yesterday at Tierrany. We could see our breath all day, but it was full sun and the rock was nice and warm and yes, I climbed in a t-shirt. The puddles on the hike in were frozen, and they were still frozen on the way out, but the climbing was great!

Is Del's open for camping yet? I heard some rumors the other day that it was still closed, but am unable to confirm that rumor. Thanks, Chris
