Does anyone know of a climbing instructor/guide that would be willing to teach a beginner this summer? I have played around bouldering before and with gear on the climbing walls but never actually got out on a rock and climbed. Thanks a million :)

Hey Yoga, In all likelyhood I will be in eastern Idaho this summer and looking for a partner. I'm not a certified guide, but i do instruct climbing at a university. Always looking to climb with new people and get them into the sport.

From what I remember since my last visit to Idaho, pretty big state... might want to list a city, climbing area, or a region.

I am in Clearwater County (a small town called Orofino "Fine Gold") located off of highway 12 between Lewiston Idaho and Missoula MT. This is the primary area that I would like to venture into. I know there are a lot of great rocks around to climb I just don't have the confidence level or know how yet. Thanks!

Hey Yogamada, You could probably have two options. I would call either climbing store. 1. Hyperspud Moscow Idaho, 83843 phone: (208) 883-1150 email: info@hyperspud.com Attn:John Crock. 2. Pipestone Missoula, MT (406) 721-1674 pipestone@montana.com By the way, last spring we had a great time at lightning dome which is in your area. John Crock was very helpful about providing a handwritten topo. (http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/North_America/United_States/Idaho/Grangeville/South_Fork_Clearwater/) Climbing over Lolo Pass is great climbing too. Either way, you should be able to find a group to learn with as both areas are college towns.

Nope, Salmon is a way's away. I am in more of mid to northern Idaho. Closest to Moscow, Lewiston areas.

If you are close to Moscow, maybe the University Of Idaho's Outdoor Pursuits program might have some instructional courses. I mentioned that you should PM Crazy_fingers84, he lives in Moscow and is a B.A.M.F.ing Rock Climber.
