Anybody read anything about if beer can damage climbing gear? Bud to be specific. . . but i had a can puncture in my pack and all my draws enjoyed a cold one. Any thoughts on how safe they are to use?

I think you may want to piss on them now to clean the bud off of them. Friends don't let friends drink B/M/C. Not sure how the 3%abv would affect the dyneema dog bones, my guess not much at all, but I am not an authority on that, just an expert on crappy beer.

have seen beer damage climbers not sure how crappy beer would affect gear. I would rub a liver all over it to help process the beer and remove the toxins......not sure how damaging a liver might be on your gear. some one here must know.

I thought it was mandatory for climbers to drink Pabst Blue Ribbon? You'd get your tires slashed in Montana for drinking anything less.

hate to be the ass-hat, but redhook is NOT a new england beer. granted, there IS a brewery in portsmouth, the ORIGINAL brewery was in seattle, opened in early 80's. then in early 90's they opened a brewery somewhere else in washington, then another (that's no longer open), and a fourth in portsmouth in the mid/late 90's. SO while there is a brewery in NE the company is originally from the NW and still has a brewery there that out-dates the NE one.... that said, i'm a NE boy myself and always used to assume redhook was a NE beer...

I actually had the same thing happen to me (can exploded), with PBR. The strange thing is, I usually buy Widmer heff (its in the bottles). In a moment of poorness I stooped so low as to buy the PBR, and I got a beer soaked rope as a consequence. Lesson learned, oh and I'll be staying away from Montana now I guess.

I don't own a pack that doesn't smell of spilled beer and I'm still alive. It lubes the cam gates.

Beer is too much weight. Switch to the hard stuff. I prefer Whiskey or Rum. A midnight scramble and a small sigg filled with the golden goodness is good for you and your 3 friends. Or if your like many climbers a more natural leafy relaxant is in order.

You should carry around the ShamWOW. Won't need to worry about any of that. It's a staple on my rack.

Any thoughts on how safe they are to use? Good general assumption... If it's safe for your skin, it's safe for your gear. Battery acid on skin = bad, beer on skin = ok.
