Im going to be in Victoria in mid March. I would like to take a friend out to do some top rope routes and was having a hard time finding info on it. Can anyone recommend me some routes? I prefer to be able to hike to the top, as Im just a novice in sport climbing still.

Hi stuntbabex, I reckon you might have more luck asking around on http://www.chockstone.org/chockstone.asp. Chockstone is all about rockclimbing in Victoria! As for top roping, I reckon the way you'd best be able to find someone to partner for that would be offer yourself out as a lead belay biatch. You give someone a catch as they lead to the top of a sport route, and they set up an anchor as appropriate, and you can top rope the thing. You'll love it in Victoria, there's tonnes of world class climbing (Araps, Gramps, Buffalo etc), but most of it is a few hours out of Melbourne.

How about in Sydney? I will go to Sydney in April for 2 weeks. Can you suggest where can I find a good place to climb?

Same answer, go to chockstone and ask around on that website's forum.
