So I am headed to Indian Creek for my first time this weekend. The forecast for Monticello (closest to Indian Creek?) looks shit : http://www.wunderground.com/US/UT/Monticello.html Whereas the forecast in Moab is down right balmy: http://www.wunderground.com/...amp;wuSelect=WEATHER Why the extreme difference in temps? They seem pretty close to each other? Thanks.

Monticello is 7070ft Moab is 4026' IC is 5000' I think. That's your main difference. Also, the river and proximity to mountains and rain shadow effect play a role.

I just checked your links. It looks like you stand a good chance of getting rained out. If you're only there for 2 days, you might want to reconsider. If you're there for longer, a day or two of rain isn't the end of the world.

Thanks for the info. I will be there for 10 days so I think I'm going to tough it out. Still, the 10 day forecast for Indian creek is also pretty shitty. More chance of snow and some shitty temps. Is there camping in Moab if we decide to shift gears a little and do more climbing around Moab proper?

You've got a few options. There is a BLM free site over near Klondike Bluffs. I can't remember the exact road but it's easy to find. It's dirty and busy but free. You can camp at any of the fee sites near the river. The lazy lizard will sometimes let you camp on their property for cheap or you can just get a room. I think they're up to $9 a night for a bed. I've often slept in the back of my truck at the Amassa Back overflow parking directly underneath the tombstone. I usually park right next to the no camping sign and crawl in the back. If it's more than a simple place to crash overnight, I'm sure this wouldn't work. Pretty much everything is free in the Swell but it's a lot colder.

Everything that Angry said. Not infrequently there is bad/cold weather at Indian Creek, and the local Moab area is quite nice. Also, there is more dispersed, "free" camping along the river road upstream from the Castleton Tower turnoff. And the crackhouse can sometimes be a good place to go in bad weather, too.
