middle finger pain

i have had some pain in my middle finger lately. there is not really any swelling and applying pressure at the joints causes no pain. however, if i squeeze the top and bottom or the sides of the proximal phlanax (bone closest to the hand) it is extremely sensitive to pressure. the finger hurts crimping and pinching( really all the time while climbing) and also when i try to do things like snap my fingers. stretching the finger back causes tightness on the bottom of the finger through the hand. stretching it forward causes tightness in the joints (or i feel the tightness there. any suggestions? pulley? stress fracture? it doent seem to loosen up when i get warmed up, the pain stays pretty consistent. thanks!

i accualy have the same thing i believe it may have been cause by one of two reasons:

1:I was tapped up on the lower area of my middle finger and when i took it off it hurt.

2:All i did yesterday was a bouldering session with lots of halos and that may be the other soul cause

other than that id also like to know

thanks and that does help. the problem is that most posts seem to deal with joint pain, which hints towards pulley injuries and tendonitis. my pain, however, seems to be more between the joints, with some inherient pain in the joint.

it really sounds like an A2 pulley issue. check this out---

---and then try taping like this:

---start with the H method [but it helps to cut the slits offset so they're easier to wrap] and use 1.5" tape

---cut a half-width strip and connect the first & third joints [to help lock the finger and not hyperextend],

---then wrap the H

---cut two more half-widths, one to wrap & reinforce the proximal phlanax and the other to secure the first joint/cross piece

---trim the excess. voila.

---see if this helps at all
