I am new to the east coast and am going to the Gunks for Labor day. I am sure it will be an overcroded shit show but i am excited to touch stone and see this legendary east coast climbing local. Which guide book should i buy?

Do a search on this topic and you'll find extensive discussion. The short answer is the two volumes by Dick Williams (one covers the Trapps, the other the Near Trapps and Millbrook). Don't buy any guide written by anyone else.
