So the instructions for the Trango Cinch say for use on dynamic ropes, so let's get that out of the way and say it was not designed for static blah blah...

I have used the cinch for belaying dynamics and rappelling dynamic ropes. Anyone have experience on how it works rappelling and ascending (i use frog style usually) static ropes? found any problems with stiff statics not clamping/bending?

Apart from that: The stiffness depends a lot of the type of rope. Generally statics are stiffer, but some are made to be rather soft, so i guess the results would depend on the rope used.
Sorry, not much of help, just wnated to post the first part ;)

Well it's more a general question, wanted input from people who have experience with it. I have some 11mm static that's like a cable and I'd think although the cinch says it world with 11 dynamic I think it would have issues with it. On the other hand my friend has a 9.5ish static which is pretty supple for a static, but a fast ride even through my atc-g.

I've used it on 10 mm static rope. Don't like rappelling with it on static, not as nice as a grigri. Never tried acsending with it.
