I've managed to keep my job in the oilsands business...things are picking up again as far as projects go and we are even bringing some people back that were unemployed. Good sign I guess.

Spent 7 years in the army and 6 years in the oilfeild in which I have drilled on a service rig for 2 years and this summer I have been working at Yam. Been trying to see if I could find a pipefitter app but things ether r still really slow or I'm not looking in the right place.

Yeah things are slow I believe up at the site. Alot of our projects are only in the design phase right now, we haven't even started buying anything yet.

Hey Paul, I feel bad. I wasn’t there cause I had to meet someone last night. We were supposed to meet last Monday but she had to cancel and re-scheduled for Wednesday night. Is everyone on holidays or something?

I"m back in cowtown, somewhat broken, but still in one piece... ish. Will be at the pub tomorrow. Anna, bring Kev's loot/whatever it is you have of his if you're heading out of town. I'll get it to him. See everyone tomorrow at the Pub... with stories of course. Did you know you can bail off a cliff with a bike?

Re: [lovesclimbing] Are you not working? I've been up in Sundre a lot lately and there has been a constant flotilla of oil patch workers pulling their5th-wheels into the RV parks and campgrounds. The one I was at was at was full and the guys I talked to were all whining about not having any time off. As far as Calgary goes, it seems busier out of town to me. Just take a drive up the QE2, there's some sort of project or another going on in every direction and every little town seem to be throwing in a new subdivision. On a totally different topic, Check out this video: "Logan Grayling, a resident of Canmore, Alberta, who launched his kayak off Banff's 100' Upper Johnston Falls"

Ya... I think I need a little more practice on the kite, and maybe the skis too, and some alcohol would probably help. Let's start with something a bit smaller, like Nose Hill

I would just like to say that jumping on an alpine rock route in the Great Canadian Chossies rated at an "Old school 5.5" aka F5, which is not anywhere in the realm of 5.5 and sometimes feels like 5.7 with 5.10 like commitment, can be a bit 'heady' after climbing on perfect squamish granite for a week.

I've always said that this chossy limestone is good for you. I've watched a lot of granite-masters get their asses kicked on moderate routes here, bitching about run-outs, no pro, holds coming off, etc., etc., It's all good training though! .. or as *someone* would say; "You call that a crack? That's not a crack! There's no bloody cracks anywhere out here, I've think been ripped off, the guidebook said this was a Crack!"
