I really love sock balls (swear by the black diamond white gold balls), but like to add a small handfull of lose chalk to the bag as well as the ball. The problem for me is, i prefer a very fine consistency of chalk, so i spend time (and make a mess) crushing it before refilling my bag. Does anyone know of a chalk that is actually fine and not "chunky"? Metolius sells a fine ground chalk, but it's not very fine at all... Thanks

I buy chalk in bulk that comes in compressed squares. But i hate chunks too so heres what you do: Break the square up a little bit by hand, and put it in the blender. in 3 seconds you have the fluffiest of fluffy chalk. Seriously, people always ask where i get my chalk when they feel it.

I just went and tried the blender. Messy; but it does the job. Make sure the lid is on...

Metolius and Bison both make fine powder versions of their chalk.

The cops took a bunch of chalk when they raided my house once. They are dumb.

Go with this stuff it is super good, fluffy and great. You could think of lumpy chalk, like crack out of a dealers basement. And this stuff like pure 100% Colombian cocaine. Its good stuff.... the chalk, p.s. you can find deals if you look around

Bison is so fine and smooth. I hate it. Might as well use rosin. actually from my experience rosin works better. Frank Endo all the way. I've been trying to climb with less chalk. Greasing up all the moderate climbs is good ethics! I'll dip my hands in pine sap and send your project;)!

I've seen chalk by Petzl that is smooth and very fine, almost like baby powder. It came in a round cardboard tube. I loved that stuff. Have not seen it around in a while (haven't looked) but if you can find it, its probably what you're looking for.

Well when you live in a college town where the cops dont follow the laws of search and seizure, they show up quite a bit for various reasons. I've been "raided" three times, and they take something stupid each time. I think they stole my xbox most recently..

I buy the cheap, block bulk chalk, and crush it way easier than the blender method described above. I just throw a block in the gallon sized zip lock bag Zip it up and run it over a few times with a rolling pin. You know the rolling thingy grandma used on pie crusts and such. Very fine crush, moments to do, and mess free storage to dole it out as needed. Bob

The bison chalk sounds like what i'm looking for, but it seems to get bad reviews... Anyone use the fine metolius chalk? Also, the rolling pin (and even blender) sounds like a cool idea if nothing else works...

I used to buy Frank Endo powdered chalk in 3 lb bags for $25 bucks. A bag would last me a couple of years. It wsa light and not sticky and of course never chunky. Frank Endo doesn't supply it anymore. Can't find it anywhere. Maybe its like that chewing gum commercial... it lasted TOO LONG and he couldn't sell it anymore. But it was the best chalk ever my friends. You children these days do not know what it was like. This modern metolius chalk isn't the same. DMT

Just watch those European climbers and you'll see: that super fine baby powder chalk leads to an obnoxious abuse of the "French Blow" technique
