Are there any retailers where I could get a catalog to shop from? I don't have a climbing store nearby and a mail-order catalog would be great. I know that Shoreline has one, but I haven't found any others. I am a business major and it just seems like that would be good for a business.

Pick up a climbing magazine. The usually have a postcard that you can fill out and choose the retailers you want catalogs from. You can also go to http://www.climbing.com and fill an online version.

well there are tons to be honest. Actually your best bet is to go on-line. I order most of my stuff from www.mec.ca. All prices are in Canadian which is good for me. (being Canadian). Some stuff they don't ship to the US though. I know there are other American sites that you could buy stuff off of. Check around in other forums and you'll find some links. Otherwise pick up a copy of Rock and Ice or Climbing and they are filled with ads for mail order gear. Good luck.

I think shoreline and mountain gear have the best 'retail' catalogs, and patagonia and petzl the best 'manufacturer' catalogs. I shop on line a lot, though... why waste all that paper? This is from the top of my head, as all my shopping links are on my work computer. Links to online gear shops: www.mgear.com www.rei.com www.rei-outlet.com www.killerdeals.com www.gearexpress.com www.campmor.com forgot the exact url of these: sierra trading post snowleopard shoreline the north face black diamond marmot mammut mountain hardware petzl

Go to climbing.com. They have an online section that has a list of cool catalogues you can get for free. I've got Patagonia, Metolious and Nalgene cats. so far. --Peace.

and for us po' folk who are too cheap and lazy to subscribe, requesting catalogues from the likes of Patagonia and Black Diamond is a good way to get a 'magazine'. Patagonia even has essays and stuff to read. just don't look at the prices.. www.sierratradingpost.com rocks and I really like northern mountain supply (www.killerdeals.com). I must boldly toot the horn of cloudveil as well for soft goods. www.cloudveil.com michelle

Metolious sends out sweet catalogues and gives detailed specson all of the products ofered. It helped me make up my mind and then lists retailers. If you were super lazy you can find what you want in the metolious cat. and then order the stuff from mec.ca, and have it delivered to your house. TOclimber
