Yet another year has passed, how is it looking? Is this place going to open or what?

I just talked to Chistine the other day and she and Freddy are selling the place and the new owners are considering re-opening it to climbers.

Just saw this on the Houston Climing MeetUp message board (posted 9-26-09) from "Dipp" & Helen Diipprey:
In reply to: We are in process of buying this property and since we are new to the sport am asking for suggestions from all members - we want this to be bigger and better than it was in the past - plans are to offer climbing, wilderness camping, hiking, horse back riding (your horse or ours), RV Park with full hookups, nature trails, and Airboat tours on the Brazos River, Guided Hunting and Fishing Trips. Since we are new to the sport of climbing any and all suggestions will be appreciated - Will keep everyone posted on the Grand Opening. Dipper And this is on their profile:
In reply to: We are buying Paradise on the Brazos - We need advice on the rock climbing that is available on this property. We want to open it back up together with the camping, hiking and horseback riding. Would very much appreciate any input for all the member

Does anyone know if the rumours about Paradise having been open for about two weeks is true. I don't want to have a wasted trip, or cause trouble for the future, by going there when its not open, but I am desparate to climb, but can't manage long trips at the moment.

Here's a reply:
In reply to: I just called up there (5 minutes ago) and they said that they are still in the process of selling the property, once that is done (no timeline given) then the area will reopen to climbers. There ya go!

Hey guys, just thought i would update you all on POB status. They are still in the process of selling the property. The way I understand it is that the closing has taken place, but the funding is still not available for the purchase. I hear thats normal with commercial sales. The new landowners seem eager to open the land back up to climbing once the purchase is final and there is insurance in place. So for now if Everyone could please refrain from visiting POB. We will let you all know as soon as it is back open. Not sure where the rumor came from that it has been open for two weeks. Ryan

Well Folks...Bad news for POB. The Land aquisition fell through with the new potential buyers who were willing to reopen to climbers. The land is going back up on the market and the fate of POB lies in the hands of whoever may purchase it in the near future. For now POB is closed to the public for climbing. Sorry to bear the bad news. Ryan

Paradise is back open. I was just out there today with a good group of friends. Please be respectful of Freddie for allowing access through his land. Camping is $6 and climbing is $10. Please pack out what you pack in and more if you can. There is a core group of us that are working with Freddie to plan future improvement of the trails and possibly more bolted climbs. For whoever says that climbing in the summer is too much, you can chase the shade and get in some fantastic climbing. I and others were working Columbia (12), Rock-a-bit(10) and some more very fun routes. River chimps was repeated (again) by myself and some of the rest of the group. All in all, a very very good day of climbing out at P.O.B.

Yes POB is open for the time being. The RV park was just opened back up this past weekend. Please continue to respect the land. This property is still for sale, so its future is still unknown and in the hands of whoever may purchase it in the future. But for now, he is allowing respectful climbers on his property to climb. Please pack out your trash, stay on the designated roads, do not cut any trees or vegetation, and most of all, pay for your climbing before you climb. Freddie has mentioned that there have been a number of climbers who have not been paying for their days of climbing. This has been a common trend for quite some time now. Climbing here is a privilege not a right, and Fredie has mentioned throwing in the towel once again if people do not pay.
