Ahoy there! Here's another one on shoes. Just curious as to who out there has HUGE problems finding shoes that fit? I have drama after drama, because 95% of all the shoes out there are too big. I absolutely adore my Dominator V's but with the smallest size being 37, I could go a full size smaller and love then even more. Generally when I buy new shoes (which I went through on the weekend again) I try on 6 or 7 different shoes, and sizes, and eventually find one. However, some shoes I'd love to have I simply can't have, usually because they fit like flippers! I propose Shoe companies make smaller shoes.... Remember the little people! cheers Elk

I'm 5 foot 2. Yep my regular shoe size is generally around about a 5 or 6, depending on brand. I had a pair of 35's or something in Boreal. That was a treat, can't get 'em here now though.

Hey there M. If or when those DOM V's die, try a model in 5.10. Unfortunately the Scarpa brand I feel are notorious for making a shoe that fits a wider foot but 5.10 are deffinately very narrow and get the sizing all wrong! Get down to Cliffhanger and try a pair on. The Dragons and V10's are very narrow and for me who takes a 41Euro shoe, to fit into these I must take a 43Euro. Great forefoot fit, but a gumboot in the back end. Anyway, catch you soon on the not so verticle! Well done in the Nationals you all girl climbing ledgend! Richie

The dragons rock, I've never met someone who thought other wise, but don't order them on the net. Because your probably gonna want a size bigger than you would think. Thats what I found to be the case anyway. They fit a little funny...lol

I understand COMPLETELY. I am a size 3.5 US STREET shoe (I think that's a 35 euro. KIDDY SHOES). This is about what size I am in climbing shoes too actually, since by then the shoes are tiny anyway. I don't downsize. It's pretty pointless. (FWIW, I am 5'3) My Sportiva Meraks are a size 34.5 euro a could go down a bit, and I can wear a 35 or 35.5 5.10 and Boreal, depending on the individual shoe. Red Chili, for some reason, runs really small and I can wear 36 or 36.5s there. That makes me feel like such a human being!! But I know it's a fluke. size 36.5 in anything else fits like boats... elk, your feet are HUGE But I feel your pain. Doesn't stop me from being a shoe maven though Actually, I think it's contributed. Having dwarf feet makes me horde shoes when I find them in my size. Hence why I have 5 pairs of rock shoes, and counting. Go shoe shopping with me and I'll cure you of your wee shoe woes

This post is a bit late I guess...but also having the tiny feet problem, I had to post. I couldn't find shoes anywhere in anything near my size (3.5 in US mens...or smaller depending on the shoe) at least not in stores where I could try them on. I found a place online (I know horror of horrors ordering shoes online) that guaranteed fit. www.mtntools.com I think but don't hold me to it. I timidly ordered some 5.10 Moccs, and got them about a week later, tried them on, and they fit (after breaking them in for a bit). The main problem was just whether the shoe itself would feel good, not the size so much. And I couldn't take them back after I climbed in them, so it was risky. If you find a better way, let me know, because it was kinda scary to buy shoes that way.

mwbtle- my sister in tiny feet-ery! Wanna trade kicks? No, there really is no reliable way to buy shoes for us. The only time I haven't bought sight unseen is when I made a rather shady deal with a rep at a shoe demo (my size was miraculously in the demo fleet but almost never got checked out, so they were willing to part with them) So unless you can get your mitts on the small shoes at a random shoe demo, no, there really isn't any way to handle size tiny shoes pre-purchase When I take over the world, I'll make it so that all local climbing shops stock sizes 2-5!

I spent an entire winter (1984) climbing every weekend in Joshua Tree with Hidetaka Suzuki and his wife, Michiko, who sadly passed away from cancer. I remember that Michiko wore size 1 EBs. Boreal didn't make a shoe small enough for her so she had the EBs resoled with Fire rubber. These two shoes of hers looked like earrings--I couldn't believe how small they were. Curt

"Unfortunately the Scarpa brand I feel are notorious for making a shoe that fits a wider foot" Has Scarpa completely changed their shoe design philosophy in the last few years? Or is this person just plain wrong? My Doms are 4 years old, and fit my narrow feet GREAT. Whats the deal???? Can someone offer an opinon? Not all 5.10s are narrow AT ALL. The Spires are wide. Their upper level shoes are quite tight, like the Anasazi. I always Boreals and 5.10 usually ran a bit wide, and Scarpa and Sportiva on the narrow side. But this does not seem completely true anymore. I think you have to just try all the different models.

I have wide-ish feet for their size, and the 5.10 moccs are fine. I tried on scarpas at a gym once though and ended up trying on such a big shoe that my foot wasn't even close to being held into the heel cup, but they were the right width. So they seemed pretty narrow to me. Can't comment on sportiva or boreal, couldn't ever try them on.
