Spring break is next week, and I was hoping to spend a few days bouldering before heading to the Red. I heard something about back country camping being available in Julian Price Park, but can't find any details.

Does anybody know about the camping situation, or have any suggestions? My back-up plan is to stay at Linville Gorge; suggestions about that are welcome as well.

Thanks!

The Julian Price primitive camping is off the Tanawha Trail, so some hiking would be necessary. I've hiked around there and seen the area and access would be pretty easy.

There's also a roadside site off 221 between the parkway and warpin endorphin. It's on the south side of the road pretty close to the parkway. Look for a dirt/gravel pull off and fire rings.

Check the weather before you come. We've got 6 inches of fresh snow plus some lingering old stuff underneath in Black Mountain.
