Hello - Just moved to Madison (waunakee). Looking to get on the rock. Also looking for some partners for Devil's Lake climbing. I hear that's where to go. Me - Laid back young guy. Love climbing - climb hard, but not too hard. Spend most time on 5.10s but also enjoy going lower and shooting for higher. Give me a shout if you're out there.

you'll want to try the palisades in savanna illinois. smaller area with far less congestion and way better rock. more compact areas for more climbing. wide range of skill levels as well. all toprope or trad tho. also, if you can make the trip, the best area remotely around here is jackson falls, il near ozark, il. could climb all summer there and not hit all of it. sport trad and toprope. its about seven hours from madison tho. palisades is only about two hours away. I'm in west burbs of chic. could meet there sometime to show you the place. i go on third and fourth weekends of month.weather perm.

Well I was just checking out Devil's Lake and that's like an hour from Madison. Some of the climbs look pretty crazy there. Would you be willing to hit that up? Or do you know of any public transport/tours/ buses /shuttles that head out there I could check out? I think south IL is going to have to wait but I definitely will have to go someday. s3to@hotmail.com

what do you mean palisades is better rock? that place is a choss pile compared to devils lake! an 1/8th of the size if even that and only a few good routes at each place! i climbed there when i first started and have climbed most the routes. yes there are good routes, but as to quality of the rock devils lake bullet hard quartzite is superb! andf finding routes that are free is just a matter of staying away from the east rampart on weekends! and the quadrangle is the most popular place to climb at palisades and it usually has 6 ropes stringing from ever corner and face! In my opinion you would be wise to travel the 45 minutes to devil;s lake and explore the vast amount of routes from 5.0 to 5.12 that could take a lifetime to climb!

Hi all, I'll be in town for three months or more. in Madison close to Downtown. It will be awesome if I could find a Rock Climbing Partner, Either Indoor or Outdoors. I'll be there in Mid July and expect to be gone by Aug. 33 YO Professional here. In shape. ranges 5-8 to 5-10. If we are going outdoors, please give me some time to get my gear to WI. Otherwise I'll keep Shoes and Harness with me. I hope this works,
