So you want help with a graduate degree but can't be bothered to represent yourself in a professional manner by either a) Making the link clickable b) Proof-reading your post and using proper spelling and grammar to get your point across. I cringe for whoever has to read your dissertation. EDITED TO ADD: Out of curiosity for the value of your survey I went to the link- IT'S DEAD! Haha. You ARE a "class" act for sure! Just makes me feel like my degrees are worth a little less now that you might be able to claim the same level of education one day. Man, am I a bitter fucker or what?

Mike22 wrote: Hi im a Hallam student and im currently in the process of doing my dissertation I would appreciate it if you would take a minute to fill out my questionnaire. Please only fill it in if you have been to the climbing works, http://www.surveymonkey.com/...x?s...yomGJorAfCg%3d Also I would just like to say that this is been conducted for my dissertation and is not been conducted by the climbing works owners. This would be a great help for me if you could do this !!Cheers Mike Mike, A couple of suggestions: 1. You might want to provide a little more context for your research. For example, tell us what is Hallam (a university?) and where it is. Is this an undergraduate or graduate dissertation? Also, is the climbing works the name of a climbing gym? If so, you might want to capitalize it to make that more obvious. 2. Since you are looking for a specific audience, you might want to put this in the "regional discussions" forum to find a more targeted audience - or maybe a moderator will move it for you. 3. My guess is that by not making your URL into a link, you are going to lose at least half of your respondents. I fixed it for you. 4. How are you going to explain your sampling strategy in your dissertation? Is this a representative sample of your population of interest? How are you going to guard against people on this website going and filling in your survey with humourous answers? If you don't care about getting a representative sample, you should save some effort and just make the data up yourself.

In reply to: This is not a valid survey link. Please contact the author of the survey and have them resend you the correct link to this survey. I checked because if I could ascertain where the gym (?) in question is located, then this will be moved to Regional Discussions.

I liked my response better- I think that your response was too "high brow" for him to understand...

What I would like to know. What is your "paper" on and what class is this for? My money is on some business class and a simple project. Maybe looking at doing a business plan or something.

Maybe Hallam is a clue? I found this: Sheffield Hallam University. I don't think British English is a valid excuse for these posts though.

Mike22 wrote: H i. I am a student at Hallam and I am conducting an informal study for my dissertation . I would appreciate it if those of you who have been to The Climbing Works (a climbing gym in the U.K.) would take a minute to complete the following questionnaire. If you have not been to The Climbing Works, please do not take the survey. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?s...yomGJorAfCg%3d (invalid link, please fix before submitting final draft) I would like to add that this survey is being conducted for my dissertation , and is not be ing conducted , endorsed or sponsored by The Climbing Works owners in any way. However, I greatly respect the owners and the services that they provide at their gym, and would appreciate any input that my fellow climbers could provide. Cheers, Mike I fixed your post (mostly). Here's some other free pointers, spaced by category: - If you're going to be running a survey, make sure that the link works. - If the link doesn't work, and you get called out on it, don't get snappy with the people you're asking to do you a favor that they have no obligation to do. - If you're going to get snappy with people, try not to do it to respected* members of the forum. - If you're running a survey regarding a local business, try actually going to the local business and coordinating your efforts with the owners and/or managers, instead of coming to an international online forum and posting broken links. - If you're claiming to write a dissertation, try using proper spelling, grammar and punctuation (regardless of if you speak The Queen's English or Real/American English). - If you're actually writing your dissertation, run it through the writing lab. I'm sure the English major working in your University's writing department will have a field day with it. - GO TEAM USA! * "respected," in the context of this post, may have been used quite loosely. The definition is left for the reader to decide.
