Hi I am thinking about a trip to Croatia, I'd like to combine climbing with some lazing around in the sunshine on a beach! Would Split fit the bill? Are there places to camp within walking distance of crags or would I need to hire a car? If I decided to go over to Hvar for some DWS would it be better to stay there for a few days or can you just head over for a day? Any other info on climbing in Croatia would be greatly appreciated!

Charlie, I'm planning a similar trip and have the same questions...have you received any response yet? I'd like to add one: we are mediocre climbers in the 5.8-5.9 (4c-5a) range....is there anything for suckers like us or are we gonna be out of our league out there?

Split is good, There is a crag in the city, just ask any local to point "Marjan". However, if you are going to Croatia in a summer months look into Omis, better for climbing when hot. Its a nice town. Beware of Hvar, its the most expensive place in Croatia. Than there is the best Croatian crag, Paklenica, its not far from Split, but you will need a transportation. If you find yourself in the northern part of the coast, town of Rovinj has a couple of crags close by, and Limski Kanal is not far away. Have fun.
