Ah, Outdoor Retailer. its that lovely time of year again. in my infinite laziness (i.e. lack of a paycheck), I'm once again not going to do a daily blog. I discovered that the show is ALOT more fun when i dont spend every spare second of my time writing and coding articles for rc.com. No offense to powers that be. so, to that end, here are your options for following the show. 1) You can follow me on twitter- yes, i tweet. only at the show, though- i dont understand the day to day thing. twitter name is vegastradguy. 2) you can follow the whole show on twitter if you use the service by searching and following the #ORSM tag. 3) you can read one of the dozen or so threads that have popped up previewing new gear- JimTitt's stuff in particular is nice. looks like this little pony show of gear previewing that Jay and I started has finally caught on. 4) you can find my post-show write up on the front page of rc.com sometime near/on/around/possibly later than Aug 9-10th-ish. This will contain photos and more details than my tweets. I even bought a new camera that may or may not take less shitty photos than i usually take. Time will tell. 4a) Gear I mention in my tweets may or may not show up in the write-up- this is most likely going to be the case where I do a walk-by of the booth and dont have an appointment. Big stuff/Big Booths will of course get their due in the write-up. Finally, sorry for my snarky attitude lately- been busy doing other things and am kinda sick of being unemployed, which makes going to the show kind of tough, since it kinda drags on the old pocketbook, but its also worth it to see old and new friends alike. Alright, thats all I got. See you after the show. ps- Im not taking requests for manufacturers to see for this show nor will I be monitoring this thread at all. Sorry.

Thanks for being a dick spooki, I appreciate it. Anyway, show was really good, got some good info and tweeted a bunch of it if you cared to follow. I'm off to Jackson hole for a few days before returning to vegas to write up the wrap-up. So look for the report middle/late next week. Fun highlights 1) double rope smart alpine from mammut 2) mad rock did not buy cch or FISH 3) grigri 2 will replace the original grigri 4) wild country have replaced tech friends with helium friends (available in the spring) and look for the bigger friends (5,6) in 2012ish... 5) edelrid has some sweet new arcteryx style harnesses that retail well below $100 6) cilogear is revamping the wally to make it easier to produce and look a little more like a cilogear pack. 7) Evolv is revamping the demorto and releasing a new sharma shoe.

Its not changing that much, the overall look is still the same, but the bottom is a little narrower (still fits a drill) and the construction method has changed to make it easier to produce.

Still an inferior knock-off of the Gregory.

and, for those who care, the article has been uploaded. now the little rc.com gremlins have to code it and embed photos before it makes its appearance on the front page in the semi-near future.
