A friend just posted photos to FB of Thacher State Park in upstate NY (just west of Albany). I have to say the place looks amazing, if not for rock climbing, then certainly for ice. The Park's website says limestone. Much if it looks about 60-100 feet tall, with lots of past-vertical terrain. I've never heard of it, though it looks quite extensive with well over a mile of unbroken cliffline -- at least. Anybody been there?

I didn't recognize the name, but the photos look familiar. Is it near Ithaca? A lot of the rock up there is choss.

When I went walking up there the cliffs we were under were restricted from climbing. I believe the concern was dropping rock on tourists. The third pic from the top looks REALLY familiar. There LOOKED to be some good routes when I was there, but as mentioned the rock quality was highly suspect.

That looks like a pretty neat spot. Best of luck gaining access, Mike!
