http://www.wired.com/...on-password-problem/ I think rc.com has the same (or for sure a very similar) issue. When Jung was in charge, I talked with him about this a bit. It never got resolved, and I still see the same issue with my password.

Although I agree, if this is an issue (my password, which is quite old, doesn't seem to be affected), that users should be encouraged update their passords, what else should in your opinion happen? I don't think automatically rehashing anyone's password is actually a technically possible option....

Well, I have no idea if the cause is the same. Moreover, if RC.com hasn't corrected the issue (for new passes) then it wouldn't matter if we changed our passwords. My password is 13 characters long. I've always been able to make up the last few (or add to it). I realized it one day when I realized that I had been flopping back and forth between it and a 12 character version of it that I used to use on older sites. Personally, it's never really mattered to me so I never raised much fuss about it. This story reminded me of it, and had things making a bit more sense, too.

I currently have to type in the exact password for the login to be successful.
