Im setting up my first slackline in front of my house and i was going to go out today and buy all the material but one of the 2 tree's im using has a circumference of 16 feet, the other is only 5. How much webbing will i need to make a sling for a tree of that size?

Just buy twice as much as you think you need.... it's not like it's expensive stuff.

the thing is though this is my first set up so i have no idea what i think i need haha, ive read on multiple sights that the average sling length to start with is around 12 feet so i would assume id need to tripple that for a tree thats 3x as big

Try to go around each tree at least twice. 40 feet for the large tree because you don't want to keep the slings to close to the tree and an A shape is a good angle leaving the tree. Note: don't use aluminum caribiners for slacklines longer than fifty feet (and never on a highline). Hey if your in Cali. You should try to get with some people from Arcada. I think they may be the best slackliners in the world. They have a gym and a websight Slackline.com I think. Or maby it is in San Francisco. PM me for a more detailed disscusion (how much are you looking to spend, length of the line, what you have and what you may need. I can even print up a few page pamphlet on How to rig and take down and mail it to you.
