How are the climbs looking at Moss Island? Is it melted enough to set up anchors?
Thanks!

The access road from the island to the rock is still snow covered.
It should be clear by this weekend but the lawns will still have snow on them.
I'll keep everyone up to date on the snow here.
We are about a week behind as far as the snow melt is concerned.

Thanks ADk! I'm thinking about going over Friday afternoon with a small group, but that's still up in the air...

I stopped down yesterday late and the only areas without snow are the area of Jeff Loves Eileen, The Runny Rose Area and Profile Rock.
So there is some climbing without actually climbing through snow from grades 5.3 - 5.10. Very little as of this point. Today I did not have a chance to see how much more snow melted with these high temperatures as I was away at a state meeting.

Which also means there must be a big friggin' puddle at the base of that area as well.

Maybe the Dihedrals are a bit more open?

Nope, work was done two years ago so that the water runs close to the wall, only out 6", all the way to the right and then away from the wall.

Cheers! I assume the bold was there for a reason, but I will assume that it was to point out how I have overlooked the hard work someone else has done to improve the climbing areas I infrequent. I appreciate those efforts.

After it runs away from the wall, does it cross the walkway and go into the canal? Cause there was a hell of a lot of water that collects in that area.

The entire area at the base of the cliff face is fill.
There is anywhere from 20 -30 feet of fill actually and then it was covered with dirt. I do have pictures of this.
The water runs unto the ground about 15 feet from the wall.
I'm not sure how long it's been since you have been here but the area from Sieg all the way to Tripple Overhang has been clear of honeysuckle as well as the area from Fred p Jones to the Dripping Wonder.
The base of the cliff looks totally different than it did 6 years ago even.
There will be more changes in the future as well. Stay tuned.

Good to hear. I was out there once last summer at the far end of the cliff (sno-white area), but it was a very dry time and didn't see standing water anywhere.

Send me a PM when you are doing some work - I'd take the drive out there to pitch in.
