With all the Protein Bars , Power Bars, which is your favorite choice? Recently I found some whole nuts and fruits with no sugar at whole foods. I generally dislike power bars or protein bars because they are so heavy. I used to like lemon luna bars but now they seem too sweet. So what's your choice for a protein bar or energy bar for climbing?

jbro_135 wrote: stupid thread, don't care Although I agree with this statement, I did experiment with Gatorade's new pregame Prime. I took it right before a gym session and I have to say that I kicked ass. Maybe the best I've climbed in a while. Now, it was just one time. I will experiment a little more and maybe report back. Maybe it was coincidence, maybe not. Josh

Pro-Bar has my vote by far. Almost all of them are 350+ calories and actually taste like food. Otherwise good nutrition pre and post climb are more than enough for me to keep going on a bar or two for the day.

I go for the Cliff bars, there good tasting, & take up no space in the back pack, I tend to keep on in my bag at all times just in case I or a friend forgets a snack.

Drinking a protein shake, eating a protein bar, or just eating lean protein such as chicken or fish within 30 minutes of finishing a workout helps speed up recovery time. My son drinks a protein shake after lifting weights at school. Recently, we discovered a cliff bar that he likes and have started buying them.

Has anybody heard of people having stomach problems after eating a protein bar and then climbing. I have noticed that protein makes my stomach feel very heavy and that it is much more helpful for me to have my protein after a workout.

If its with nuts and raisins and whole grains its easier to digest. I'm a fan of gu, and some protein drinks that are more digestable
