I'm considering planning a trip out to california with some friends in august, probably camping inside for 3-4 days for some bouldering. I'm just not sure if the heat will be worth it for that time of the season. What do y'all think of the weather, and what are some of the better areas to camp closer to some good bouldering opportunities?

Head for the mountains, Big Bear, Idyllwild, Tram Boulders (up the tram from Palm Springs). It'll still be hot but bearable.

Could try climbing in Joshua Tree beach!
If you need water enough you might imagine a mirage .

+1

for bouldering I like Black Mountain and Tramway. The camping at Black mountain is pretty convenient too.
