So I read online that bivouacking at Seneca is allowed as long as it is "50ft above the ground". Has anyone done this? And if so, does the above statement mean only at 50ft or anything 50ft and over? I'll talk to the climbing shops nearby before doing it, I was just curious.

It must be exactly 50 ft. So bring a laser level. It will be checked by smoky the bear or one of his minions.

At least 50' above the ground. I also believe it is restricted to the East faces (not visible from town).

When I was there, people would commonly "bivy" in the gunsight notch. Usually with cans of beer.

You mean like this? Haha, this is two of my friends below me in another portaledge all under Orange Aid. Nothing like "legally" camping at Seneca in February!
