Ok so this is a heads up for anyone that is looking at buying climbing holds.. Don't buy from this guy!
I ordered $50 worth of holds from rockymountainclimbinggear.com in mid March. About a week later I got an email from paypal with what I thought was a tracking number. Another week goes by still no holds.. so I check the tracking number.

This is what USPS had linked to the number.

"The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on March 24, 2011 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. No further information is available for this item."

So I write an email to (the owner?) Carl Keene. Asking about the holds.. No answer.
I Call in April... No answer.
I Call in May and leave contact info..... No answer No Call back.
I Call today... Phone number is no longer in service...WTF!

Based on the area code he's out of Idaho but I cant find anything else on the guy. If you know this guy punch him in the nuts and tell him "Where's my Money!"

Why is the atlanta part bogus? There is an Atlanta ID.

True, but then the house # + street + zip code would be bogus....it could be possible though.
Either way, he probably doesn't live there any more....if he ever did.

Lol yeah I found that too. The address is kinda jacked up thou Atlanta, ID is an unincorporated town. The address does exist and in the right area code but in Coeur d'Alene, ID.

I feel like a huge stalker now lol.

I also found an amazon coustomer review from a woman that also didn't get holds but did get a call back. She mentions that the guy "suffered an unforeseen tragedy".
http://www.amazon.com/..._by=MostRecentReview.

If this is the case I dont want to harass a guy that has had bad luck, but damn It would be nice to get a response and an IOU.

Hell I might even make a donation, but I'd like the option.

Actually, the zip code does match for Atlanta ID. And given the way addresses work in Utah and much of ID and the intermountain west, 1721 3rd street is entirely plausible.

However, I'm not trying to defend this guy in the least if he indeed did what the OP accuses. I'm just saying that the address may well be legit.

Sounds confusing, though it wasn't much different in NZ. We didn't even need a zip code there (though we did officially have one).

btw, on the handbag website, he actually lists his address as Coeur d'Alene...

I've had this situation happen to me. It is a low cost shipping method that involves both UPS and USPS. It's not bogus although you should check where this stuff is supposed to be delivered. I had to go to the post office and ask for it.

My situation is that I have a PO box but no home USPS mail delivery. I do have a work address but no USPS delivery there either. People deliver things wrong because they deliver using UPS and use my proper business address but then UPS sends the package to the USPS post office who does not deliver here. They hold it for a while.

Maybe your package is in that same sort of limbo. Check with the post office and see if they have it by name or with an address where they can't deliver it.

I know I should have posted this a while back.

I also placed an order with this company (in early Spring). I got the same "tracking number" email, and I never received my climbing holds. I called and emailed repeatedly.

Eventually, I got my money back by contacting my credit card company and providing them my thread of emails.

Anyway, I just want to add an independent confirmation: this seller sucks.

Don't believe when someone who has taken your money all of the sudden has some sort of tragedy in their life. Its a common scammer delay tactic. File a paypal claim but there is a 99% chance you wont get your money back. Although falsely offering a donation to help the guy get through his "tragedy" might be a way to get the guy to talk to you.

I order climbing holds from rockymountainclimbinggear.com once a month and have for the past 8 years. I've never had a problem with the company. Carl always answers his phone when I call him. Are you sure you have the right number? 208-704-0291. In his defense, you should look at his e-bay feedback.

What is the tracking number for your package? You've only posted part of the information. I'd like to track the package for myself. I run a very similar business online and also re-sell Rocky Mountain Climbing Gear's products in our stores.

One thing I've noticed about these forums is that it's usually one of their competitors posting stuff like this. Sorry you seem to have gotten a bum rap but I think the company rocks.

And you, new member making your first post... who are you? If someone will lie to make a competitor look bad, are you a friend who will lie to make someone look better?

I'm just saying.

I have his holds on my home wall, came fast, it was a while ago though. One thought though, why would you pay for shipping. Sounds like though paypal if you got and email and then not ship them. I would be calling the post office sounds like they may have lost them. Now I do think he should answer the phone.

Well, there are two sides to every story. Just thought I'd put my two cents in.

It's a beautiful day, lets go outside and climb instead of hating on the internet.

I finaly got the Holds and it only took 9 months. A RC.com'er that goes by aquinnahokeefe PM'ed me and said he saw this review and that he worked for the website and that they wanted to make it right.

He said that the email was down for a short time due to spam and that he couldn't speak for the phone issues.

They sent me a set of holds and threw in a set of jibs and hardware.

All is right in the world.

That is all
