Im road tripping from Montana to smith rocks for the last week in march.

Hows the camping? Temperature wise will it be ok for the kids?

Is it going to be crazy busy climbing and at the campground?

Thanks for any beta.

March and April are kind of hit or miss when it comes to weather. Temps will be slightly cold ( 40's or 50's during the day. Rain is def possible this time of year.
Two options for camping are The Bivy site or skull hollow. I recommend the bivy site as you can get up and hike into the park without the need to get in your car and drive. plus they now charge for skull hollow. The bivy site is $5 a person per night. This includes camping, parking at the campsite and at the main parking area of smith, potable water, Hot showers ( not always hot), bathrooms, cleaning station, and one power outlet just in case.
As for how busy it gets. the time of year you are referring to isn't usually to bad. just know that weekends are always going to be worse than weekdays ( as with most places). The campsite works great for kids with the perma bouldering wall at the site, and a slackline in the middle of the campsite to play on. If your climbing with kids, you might want to stick to the walls closer to the parking area. You can walk to the north point in about 2 minutes, or you could hike to squaw rock in about 4 hours. it all depends on you schedule and choice of routes.
Terrebonne sits maybe five minutes from the park. They have a grocery store, climbing shop, and a great restaurant called the Depot.
You can also call and speak to a park ranger with any questions at (541) 548-7501. this is the State Park number. Hope your trip goes well and have fun.
