I just bought the Mountaineers Selected Climbs in North Carolina. I can't wait to take the trip out to Crowder's Mountain.

Unfortunately, I have a 5 month old and a 3 yr old. My wife and I need something closer than 3 hours for now. Are there any safe, legal top rope climbs at Raven Rock park in Lillington? Or anything closer than 3 hours to Sanford, NC?

As far as I know...no. I'm pretty sure no climbing is allowed at Raven Rock, and I've not heard of any climbing near Fayetteville. And to tell you the truth, if Crowders was my only climbing option and it was 3 hours away, I'd probably quit climbing. I doubt it is much different time-wise to get to Pilot or Moore's. Also, in the winter Asheboro boulders might be closer (need to be a CCC member to climb there). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
