Old thread on this had no success, but hey, I'll try again: taking a vacation to Cape Town in November and want to get in a little climbing (probably bouldering, probably rocklands). Are there any guides in the area that will help with the permits, transportation, and pads? Maybe someone in the area willing to help me out in getting in a day of climbing?

Try Google. This is what I found by searching "rock climbing cape town south africa." The local gym: http://www.cityrock.co.za/ A local guide service: http://www.capeclimb.co.za/

Thanks, this "Google" looks like a good resource. I'll bookmark it for future use. I was hoping for more personal advice, maybe if someone had done this trip and knew how easy it was for a foreigner to get to rocklands from Capetown.

Rocklands is of the beaten track. You'll need to rent a car or bum a ride. Try climb.co.za - there are plenty of threads with similar questions. If you can't find an answer the regulars on that forum are generally friendly. I think Scott Noy has a new rocklands guide out - CityRock is the big gym in Cape Town, they'll know. And I reckon there are a few climbing layabouts who would be happy to show you around Rocklands in exchange for a free trip and some hard curency. Safe climbing,
