Rib injury

Hey guys,
I fell off my bike like an idiot last week (slippy road) and basically fell badly and injured one of my ribs. It's not really the rib itself says the doc, it's the muscle between the ribs.
It's not broken or anything, but sneezing, lifting something up, coughing and inhaling very deeply basically hurts. Climbing is difficult because there are a lot of movements where I feel that rib hurting.

I should take some time off from climbing shouldn't I. I hate it... I want to climb, especially since I haven't climbed for a whole week between Xmas and New Year :(

Last time I injured my ribs on JUDO, the climbing was out of the question for one month... You can only give it time, there is nothing else to do...

I've had chronic costochondritis, which is basically issues around the connective tissue in your rib cage:

A little time off for climbing does help. Mine has really calmed down, but I can still hear popping in my sternum if I lie on my side sometimes.

I know how painful it can be, and I hope you feel better soon! But yes, a little down time may be helpful in your healing process.

i had the exact same issue a few years ago...slowly the flare ups are going away.

hammerstrength makes great exercise equipment that is very comfortable to use. that, and going to the doc and getting some muscle relaxers, i prefered to work it out till it locked up or i "couldnt breath" then take a muscle relaxer and sleep it off.
