Hi schnuedu, UPDATE: In the end of writing I have noticed you were are asking for DECEMBER...Oh...I am not going to throw this text away:) May be it will help others... Peru is probably not the best place for this time of year. So sorry for the following misleading answer: I have been to Peru, so will mention a few things/tips from there. Sportclimbing: Definitely Hatun Machay. Amazing place. Shortly: all grades, accommodation in camp or hut, easy to find partners because this place is almost only visited by climbers. Transport provided by Andeankingdom located in Huaraz. Check out their website http://www.andeankingdom.com/hatunmachay/index.php You might get there as well without andeankingdom, however you would have to travel by bus and then go by taxi. This is worth it only in case there is 3(or better 4) of you. There are some other places near Huaraz for rock-climbing (google will help you) Multipitch: Sphinx (http://www.summitpost.org/...la-the-sphinx/150725), you might climb there by yourself (obviously:) but it is also possible to do it commercially with a company (there's plenty in Huaraz). Alpine: There is about 30 peaks over 6000 meters in Huaraz surroundings. This is dependant on your skills. We have been doing Ishinca(cca 5500), Urus(cca 5000) and Chopicalqui (cca 6350). There is plenyt of information on internet (www.summitpost.org etc...) Trad: See Multipitch section:) adam
