I am a fairly new to outdoor climbing.Started sport leading and am looking for good locations to climb. One thing i can't understand.... Why list a location at all if you aren't going to post the directions to it?? does it feel good to say, i know a spot, but i won't tell you where? it might make you feel good about yourself, but you just come of as a cocky immature ass when you give less than 1/2 the info. Either give the details, or don't say anything at all. Almost every climber i have meet in person has been super cool and full of info they seem willing to divulge as soon as i ask.... why do so many posters seem to come off as dicks on this DB?? Is there maybe a better website to find good info on locations, i'm not trying to start a debate, i just want good info to go climb with. thanks in advance for any help or info anyone can send my way -=timtron

Lots of reasons. Laziness. Someone doesn't feel like they know the way well enough to post directions. They just want to list climbs so they can record what they've climbed, rather than as a resource for others to find the climbs. Written directions would be difficult to impossible to follow, and you really need a map. Or you really need a local to show you how to find the place, else you'll get lost. Assuming everyone already knows how to get there, cause its obvious. Or cause everyone climbs there already. But, mostly, laziness. And, it isn't just this online database. That beahviour applies to a lot of online climbing databases. (here, mountainproject.com, thecrag.com, 8a.nu, etc.)

Because editing an area or route needs moderator/admin approval and they are nowhere to be found. I've given up placing routes into this database and moved to another.
