This is a very sad accident to see so many get hurt and loose their lives in one incident. If you got more detail about this accident, please post it. RIP A 15-year-old boy has died from injuries sustained in a climbing accident on a popular Phoenix mountain that claimed the life of an off-duty firefighter, police said on Saturday. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/08/08/us-usa-arizona-climber-idUSKBN0G82CI20140808 http://www.reuters.com/...dUSKBN0G90K120140809

The boulder they were rappelling off is very popular and has a large eye-bolt on top. The phoenix papers haven't offered up a conclusion yet but the link below offers a visual of the site and a local news feed. http://www.azcentral.com/videos/news/local/phoenix/2014/08/09/13848521/

RIP Gary. He was a good man. Two survivors can shed light on this tragedy. One of whom was injured; the other person was at the bottom. A group of Natl Guard folks stopped at the top, it is along the trail, and gathered the gear not realizing it was the scene of a fatality. If someone knows who they are, please contact Phx PD to describe what you saw initially. A second person posted a photo on Facebook. If someone knows who it is or has any other photos of the scene, please contact Phx PD. Thanks.
