I've changed my password as prompted, and can log in fine to RC.com, but I can't get into my email past the page that tells me how many messages I have. It keeps sending me to a login page where I've tried every password I've ever known and can't get through. Any ideas? Alt. email ctreat@camcoconstruction.com

For now, you will need to use your old password. This changed when we upgraded the security system for the main site. We are working to make the systems use the same password.

doh. Well, if it makes you feel better, I think I've figured out a way to simultaneously upgrade the email system and (leaving the old system in place) use IMAP to retrieve your messages from your directory using your new rc.com password. Cross your fingers... if this works for you it will work for everyone (and solve this problem once and for all).

OK, I've tried the old password as suggested but that didn't work either. I'm not sure if you meant anything special about using IMAP. Isn't that the same as instant messaging that I can access through rc.com or directly via http://email.rockclimbing.com/cgi-bin/sqwebmail?index=1 Am I just missing the point on getting email via "IMAP"? The only other snag I can think of is the box you check for IP addresses. I use different computers to access email. Could it be accidently binding me to just one of those IP addresses? Maybe one that I can't get back to?

I still need to get the IMAP daemon to compile. It has nothing to do with IM; it is a different protocol for retrieving email, as opposed to via POP3 or reaching into the Maildir with sqwebmail. The benefit of IMAP is that I can run it at the same time as sqwebmail (the existing setup) without breaking one or the other. However, compiling it to fit rc.com's setup is less than straightforward. I'll post here when it's up.

Any progress? Still can't get any of my email. I just donated $20 to the site to help make the proposed upgrades. Hope you or someone else can figure this out or just reset mine. It's probably not a global issue or there would be a lot more emails on this issue.

I had the same thing happen a while back. The only solution was for the rc.com guy(s) to enter a new email password for me and tell me what it is. I'm still using it for fear that my email will get messed up again if I touch it. They will probably have to do the same for you. I bet your new rc.com password was encrypted then passed to the email system and that was then encrypted to be your email password. Or somthing like that. Dave
